Easy Baked Honey Chicken Thighs (Bone In)

These easy baked honey chicken thighs (bone in, skin on) with soy and garlic are a delightful fusion of savoury, sweet, and juicy chicken. They are easy to prepare and take about 45 minutes to cook in the oven.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg (2lb) Chicken thighs Bone in, skin on
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic
  • Onion granules/Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mixed herbs
  • Paprika- Smoked hot or regular
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt

Method
 

  1. Clean the chicken thighs and remove any hanging fat around them. Pat them dry using paper towels.
  2. Mix the honey, soy sauce, garlic, onion, mixed herbs, paprika, salt, oil, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the mixture on the chicken thighs and mix till the thighs are evenly covered in the marinade. Let this marinate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) so it reaches the right temperature before you place the marinated chicken.
  5. Arrange the chicken thighs in a baking tray and bake honey chicken thighs in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Turn the chicken after 25 minutes so the other sides brown as well.
    Use a thermometer to check if the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 160F/75C.
  6. Bring out the oven tray with the baked chicken thighs using an oven glove to put it on a cooling rack and let it sit for about 5 minutes before you serve.

Notes

  • Adjust salt and pepper to your taste.
  • Do not overcook the chicken to avoid it getting dry.
  • You can marinate the chicken for up to 24 hours if you have time.
